- Aluminum Tailpiece with mounting studs & anchors
- Made in the USA - not a Genuine Gibson® part
- Lightweight vintage design - weight is about 1.2 oz.
- Plated aluminum alloy
- Includes plated brass studs(SAE 5/16 - 24) and zinc plated steel bushings - 1/2" (13mm) diameter
- Tailpiece ear thickness is .290"(7.4mm)
The aluminum tailpieces weight 1/4 that of the zinc and produce a much different sound. They transfer vibrations differently, resulting in a woodier, more airy vintage tone - richer, rounder mids but with more upper harmonics as well. Back in the '50s, Gibson® used aluminum for their stop bar tailpieces. For whatever reason, they switched to zinc, which is still used today on all but the historic line.

Perfect upgrade for '14 Gibson LPJ
I bought this to upgrade the tailpiece on my 2014 Gibson "LPJ" Les Paul. This set of tailpiece, screws, and bushings was a perfect drop-in replacement. They're also much lighter than the original parts, and look much better than the original matted finish. Highly recommended!

Aluminum Nashville stop tailpiece
Fits perfectly on my 2012 Gibson LP Standard. Just like the original aluminum tailpieces from the 1950’s, this one opens up the the tone and enhances the overall harmonic resonance. Excellent upgrade and very well-made high-quality product

Great Deal
Excellent quality, compliments the pinnacle aluminum/titanium bridge nicely.

A perfect fit
This went on an Explorer that was initially set with a Nashville and a standard tailpiece. Perfect fit on the standard studs bolts so don't bother ordering them if you have the originals.

Super light
This went into an SG that previously had been set up with a trapeze tailpiece, so I cannot compare it directly to the stock gibson tailpiece. However, I can say that compared to the tailpiece, the guitar is a lot brighter and snappier. I was also genuinely surprised by how light this thing is, which adds almost no weight to my already featherweight SG. This tailpiece combined with the Philadelphia Luthier Tools "No Wire" ABR-1 bridge makes an SG sound exactly as it should - crisp and airy with lots of dynamics. I'm very happy, as I have been with all my Philly Luthier Tools purchases!
