I guess it's brown when compared to the black ones that come standard on a Gibson, but it is a really dark brown that is still black for all intents and purposes. I've never had the pleasure to see or play a vintage LP, so maybe these are accurate. I was expecting a more chocolate hue, like I see in the pics. They are a solid color too, idk what the other reviewer is talking about, perhaps they have changed the formula in the 5 years since he posted it.

Well worth the cost
These are not solid brown ones, but they fit like they should, and look great. Excellent customer service, too!
