Hosco's new compact crowning file with both fine and coarse surfaces. Larger triangles indicate the coarse surface and smaller triangles indicate fine surface. Easy to see arrows indicate cutting direction. Color grip indicates crowning size...Red Wide/Jumbo, Yellow Medium, and Blue Narrow.

Well made but uncomfortable
Well made file works well. I got the small version as it looked like it had finer control while filling. But it is really painful to hold for any length of time. I think RSI would be a real risk if you did multiple guitars. I would purchase the standard file with a handle next time

update to my review
...updating my review. I have moved on from this file. I find I much prefer a traditional 3 corner file or the centered Z file. This file works OK but is easy to mess up the crown so I avoid and use the others mentioned and get more consistent results.

Great
1st fret level and crown on inexpensive guitar. Plays great now low and no buzz. I'll get the jumbo size for the next project. Can't wait.

This is a great compliment to my 3 corner file. If it fits the frets it really speeds-up the crowning process. I like that is has coarse and fine edges. Just one or two passes w/each side was all it took me to get great crowns. I've tried it w/out protecting the fretboard and it didn't leave any marks or cause any damage. Also works great in hard to reach areas like the last few frets on an acoustic guitar by the body.

Easy to use file
No issues: compact and easy to use. Does the job with good results. I got the medium and jumbo, files and need to get the narrow file next.

Nice File
This is a nice compact file that is easy to hold and use. Its short length allows you to crown the frets over the body without the handle getting in the way.

Brilliant product
Hosco products are of incredible quality! This is a top notch product that really helped speed up the otherwise laborious task of crowning frets! I bought this along with the file for jumbo frets.
