guitar radius gauges
I have a large guitar collection. This product make it easy for me to document the radius. I found that the documentation that came with Gibson and Fender were no actuate some the times. The G&L were spot one and so was Gretsch's

Precise tools
A review for my specific use which might be yours. I needed radius gauges to check the fingerboard of some old guitars without specifications and to check the real radius of the fingerboard on brand new guitars (just in case…) Yes it matters a lot to understand why you feel or you don’t feel at ease with this or that radius. The broad feeling of the hand isn’t enough to understand why you are or you are not comfortable. Each guitar player will have his/her preferences. What is important is to know what they are. I also needed these tools to set the saddles in height (this time with understring gauges) according to the radius of the fingerboard. Notched or smooth radius gauges? I definitely prefer the smooth gauges, especially for old guitars with an already worn fingerboard and some dips. Notched radius gauges wouldn’t have been precise enough. And it’s easier to read the radius with a pocket light behind the smooth gauges. With notched radius gauges, I would have had to check the radius by rocking the piece of metal across the board. Less precise and with the risk of small marks. For sure, smooth gauges meant that I had to wait until a restring to check the constant or the compound radius, but I wasn’t in a hurry. I have some guitars with a compound radius. I like these fingerboards very much. Checking a compound radius is just as easy. It only takes a few more minutes. But then I needed gauges allowing a precise reading, Once more, I had to turn to the smooth gauges. As an option, I softened the edges (I always do so). There is no real blur on these gauges. It’s just a matter of systematically avoiding sharp edges. In fact, I didn’t want to take the risk of a scratch on the fingerboard, not even a tiny one. I used some 1.000 grit sand paper. I went very gently and worked only on the edges or angles, not on the curved surfaces. These curved surfaces are excellent and accurate, and I didn’t want to change the radius of each gauge.

Radius gauges
These are really nice..accurate (I checked them with radii drawn with drafting tools). Not as expensive as 'others' available...which are the same. Customer service is great too. Anything I've bought from PA Luthiers has been great...and shipping costs less than 'others'. I'll buy from them any time I need something...as long as they have what I'm looking for.

Radius Gauges
Accurate radius, will last a lifetime. The only negative comments I have is there was a little bit of a sharp burr, but I was able to remove it with a few swipes on a whetstone. The other comment is the numbers look to be electro-etched, but they are a little on the light side, but not a big deal.
