A notched straight edge is a handy tool for evaluating the fingerboard's straightness before fret leveling. We check each one for straightness before it leaves our shop.
*The first notch at the end of the straight edge is designed to go over the first fret and not the nut.

Aluminium notched Straight edge
Overall quality is really good. I'm super impressed with how straight it actually is and is definitely within the specs that they mention. My only complaint is that it is a little too thin and makes it difficult to stay standing up when checking for gaps. Other than that I have no other complaints. It's definitely worth every penny and it looks great hanging at my work bench.

Fantastic tools!
I have played for over 30 years and I’m looking to “evolve” into repair and luthiery. With it, I am slowly building my tool shop and these are great. I have both the guitar and bass models of the notched straight edges. The bass is great for set-ups on my 34” Fender basses, then flip it over for work on my 35” Ibanez BTBs. Both are easy to use and read my neck straightness! Heavy tools and my wallet isn’t proportionally lighter!
