These make the Vintage tones
I use these to replace the ALNICO 5 magnets in Gibson Humbuckers and P90's. They yield a much more vintage sound in modern wound Gibson pickups than the ALNICO 2's & 3's that were in the true vintage pickups. This is due to the interaction with the modern coils. I have also used these with very good results in cheaper Ceramic pickups with close to vintage spec resistances.

Vintage spec
I bought rough cast A4's from somewhere else, and these are a lot shinier than that. Most people don't specify exactly which they want. Gibson mostly bought A4's and I like their tone better than A2 and A5, so this is usually what I recommend when someone wants a "PAF" without specifying if they want a low or med output. For med/low output I'd like to try an A3, but the A4 is a good catch-all for a good PAF sound.
