Extremely underrated, needs to be heard more
Hotter than an A5, tamer than an A8. Even EQ across the board, like an A4. Used on a Duncan Antiquity 8.2k, got overall middier and creamier, slight increase in lows and treble coming from stock degaussed A2. Similar to UOA5, but just a "bit more." Used also in an old MIJ Maxon U-2000 pickup reading 7.7k, they sound somewhere between an A4 and UOA5. Very nice indeed, classic well rounded Alnico character we know and love. Seems mostly ideal for older T-Top or symmetrical wind types where you need a bit more power without blowing out the dynamics. Very, very nice overall and massively underused in today's guitar pickups.

Performance
I highly appreciate that Philadelphia Luthier Tools offers a wide range of magnets. In my case here, something between an A5 and an A8 was exactly what was called-for. In my underwound humbucker it gives me enough output to drive my chain well, though a little "trebley". But as they say, you can prune treble, but not add what is missing.

Alnico 6 Bar Magnet
I bought about 100 of these a year ago. I have almost exhausted my stock, and my customers love these!!! These work great in low and vintage hot pickups. If you use these in a high output pickup the result will be dark!

Alnico 6
Awesome magnet - but the wind has to suit A6. A6 doesnt play well inn generic winds used for A5, A4, A2 - the wind must be specific to the magnet for great tone.

very bassy ... behaves more like a ceramic magnet ...
