GOTOH SD90 Magnum Lock Traditional 3 x 3 guitar tuners Nickel

Installed on my Gibson '59 Les Paul and '63 ES-335 reissues without modifications. Tuning stability improved, string changes easier, and looks discrete.

They work as intended. Only issue is that I had to also get AllParts headstock ferrules to get these to fit. Installing them was no problem once I watched a youtube video of a guy using a bolt, nut, washers and wooden block to slowly screw the ferrule into place. I was concerned about damaging the headstock installing the ferrules without using this method. Not a scratch on the guitar. From there, installing the actual tuners was a breeze - and they work great! Just be aware that MOST modern Les Pauls will require the ferrules because the opening is too large when the original tuners are removed. Custom Shop guitars are an exception, per my brother. Probably older models as well.

These tuners were exactly what my guitar needed! I have an SG 61 RI and it had factory klusons installed, all my guitars have locking tuners and since this one came with a Maestro Vibrola, to have locking tuners was a must. Unfortunately I was never able to find locking tuners that had the vintage two hole footprint, and the other vintage style locking tuners that Gotoh has where you lock by screwing the string post down were a nightmare. I decided to purchase some Grover Roto-matic locking tuners, they were great, with some good tuning ratio, but they were very heavy and anyone who has an SG knows that these can be a bit unbalanced so I had some neck dive issues as a result. When these tuners finally came out I just had to get them and I am so glad I did! solid construction, they dropped right in and lined perfectly with the old holes so there is no old tuner marks on the back of my headstock. All in all a great purchase, if you're like me and have vintage tuners and wants to preserve the looks of your guitar but with added stability of locking tuners, look no further, it doesnt get better than this!

I was searching for some locking Kluson style replacement tuners that were not klunky looking and maintained the appearance and style of my SG-61 Reissue. Bingo!! These were exactly what I was needing. I had tuning issues before but by changing out the Deluxe Tuners that came with the guitar AND the Corian nut to a TUSQ XL, my tuning issues are non existent. The holes for the screws matched up perfectly. . Just note that for the 61-Reissue you will need to get the 10 mm wide bushing with the large flange (about 14 mm) to cover up an objectionable marking from the screwed type Deluxe Tuners. If you are not sure, ask Ken. He provides excellent support. These bushing might be a little loose. A way I have found to fix this is to just wrap some plumbers tape around it several times and finger press them in. I could not be happier with this product.

Finally somebody made Kluson style tuning machines with the rear knob locking mechanism. I like vintage style Kluson tuners, but on trem guitars I haven't had the best luck with the top locking tuners, the ends would always get chewed up from locking and unlocking, and the cam style lock would sometimes move during big bends resulting in tuning changes. I replaced the cam style locking tuners with a set of these, and I love them. They are also have the rock solid tuner shafts, there is no wobble or play in the shafts unlike the regular versions. They are a direct bolt on replacement, no mods. All in all, a great upgrade, not only for the locking part, but for the improved stability of the tuner shafts. I'm ordering another set for my Strat right now...
